Chris Rankin
Chris is most famous for playing Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter films. He found out about Nelson’s Journey through a friend and agreed to become the charity’s Patron. His father died when he was 19 years old and said “When my father died, I had a lot of support from my friends and family. Some people don't have that support, and even if they do, it is always good to share your experiences and feelings with people in similar circumstances to yourself. Nelson's Journey gives kids the opportunity to do this, and make friends at the same time. I support them 100 per cent.”
Karl Minns
One of the comedy duo, The Nimmo Twins, Karl is a comedian and writer who became our Patron in 2006. It is a cause close to his heart as his own father died when he was 10 years old. He said “I was the only person I knew it had happened to for a very long time. I think Nelson’s Journey is a vital charity because children need an outlet; they don’t need to be fobbed off and told
"sssh get on with it’, this is part of life, death is part of life.”
Stephen Bumfrey
Stephen is best known for his radio show Breakfast with Bumfrey on BBC Radio Norfolk. His first job in broadcasting was as a DJ on a pirate station in Italy back in 1980. He has worked for BBC Look East, commercial radio and the British Forces station BFBS. Stephen said “I wanted to support Nelson's Journey because I know first hand that bereavement is tough enough to deal with as an adult, but confronting the death of a significant person as a youngster is particularly traumatic. Our first 17 years can shape us for the rest of our lives. It's essential to be there for children and youngsters during such a difficult and confusing time.”
