Charity Registration No. 1065775
For many years, Nelson’s Journey has been supported by Livability who has provided the charity with free office accommodation. Without their support we would not be where we are today. The time has come for the charity to acquire its own building and so we launch the Smiles Appeal, supported by the Eastern Daily Press.
A message from Carol Bundock, Smiles Appeal President
‘I was honoured to be asked to act as President of the Smiles Appeal, I am committed to making these amazing new premises happen, and happen quickly. It's the most exciting project ever undertaken by one of Norfolk's premier charities, and is absolutely vital in the work that is done to help children and their families in their hours of greatest need. I shall be knocking on doors and urging everyone to take heed, and help us put the smiles back on the faces of our children.’
Nelson’s Journey aim to create an ecologically friendly building made
from straw bales. For over 100 years, this natural building material has
been used and proves to be durable and safe. Norfolk is well known for
its agriculture and with straw in plentiful supply across the County we
aim to make this a real Norfolk project.
Why do we want to build with straw bales?
-Reduce our carbon emissions
-Renewable building materials
-Affordable
-Low fire risk
-Healthy working environment
-A creative and relaxing place to visit
-A self sufficient building will reduce running costs meaning more money can go towards supporting bereaved children.
We need to raise £350,000 to achieve our goal.
